Now Is Time to Reevaluate Your Yearly Goals

It’s hard to believe that we’re a little more than halfway through the year. What started as New Year's Resolutions have now transformed into either achievable goals or distant dreams. The good news is that it’s never too late to hop back in the saddle and keep achieving your goals! Whether you mastered your plans and goals this year or you could use a reset, check out the ways you can get back on track or keep pushing forward to do good in the world and for yourself.

Goals for Hobbies and Habits

Rome wasn’t built overnight and neither are hobbies or good habits. Set small goals to help achieve those larger goals and get you into a routine. Studies have shown that it can take anywhere from 18 to 254 days to build a habit. That’s a huge range! It also means we haven’t even reached day 254 in the year, which will come in September.

Be kind to yourself as you try to build new habits and commit to something small each day. For example, if you’re looking to learn a new instrument, commit to 10 minutes of practice each day. While this seems small, you will have practiced more than 60 hours after a year! By bumping that goal up to 15 minutes per day, you will have practiced more than 90 hours. This practice of starting small can apply to both habits and hobbies.

Philanthropy Goals

Consider how you’ve committed to giving back so far in 2021. This could include random acts of kindness, a monthly fundraising goal or a more structured volunteering commitment. Whatever goals you set at the beginning of the year to do good in the world, use this as a time to reevaluate. Maybe your goals were too lofty, and you need to scale back a bit. Or, maybe you breezed through your giving or volunteering goal and need to aim higher.

Take this time to review and reestablish based on how you’ve been doing since the beginning of the year. Remember, there’s no shame in making adjustments to fit your lifestyle and needs!

Health Goals

As we previously discussed, health comes in a variety of forms… not just the physical! However, if you need a reminder to keep moving, aim for reestablishing your health goals for the remainder of 2021. This could be as simple as increasing your water intake or adding 30 minutes of exercise into your daily routine.

Health comes in a variety of forms, including mental and even financial health. Focus on making time to take care of your mind and wellbeing. This could include setting a daily meditation goal, or making a monthly appointment with a certified therapist. Focus on saving for your next purchase, no matter how large or small the reward.

Just because it’s the middle of the year doesn’t mean it’s too late to set and achieve big things yet this year. While reevaluating your existing goals, throw in some hard-to-reach newer goals and set your sights high. From helping others to helping yourself grow, goals are a great way to continue bettering the world.
